Firstly I think it's important to point out that Mark Griffiths and Hayley were supporting the Owl's Nest Tea Room Diner and AMCC Orange Army Supporters  at the inaugural event of the Mental Health Motorbike hub. It was on a very wet and miserable day back in December that Mark and Hayley were displaying their race bikes at the time in support of mental health motorbike. Our first meeting (as Wales Round Ribbon committee was also at the event) was somewhat strange as they had just taken the keys to their new venture The Somerset Arms at Port Talbot .

Being bikers (road, track and race) both Mark and Hayley wanted to be part of the Wales Round Ribbon, they didn't have an opening date for the pub and they had mountains of work ahead but one thing was guaranteed. They would be up running and part of the Wales round ribbon 2024 in aid of Wales Air Ambulance Charity. The day they opened we got the message come see what we're doing, so we did and they are now part of this year's Ribbon Ride.

As I've mentioned both Mark and Hayley are bikers. Mark has been racing for over 30 years and when he and Hayley rekindled their childhood sweetheart relationship 10 years ago Hayley swapped Horse racing for bike racing. Mark doesn't race now but he is still in the scene with his extended family as he now supports his brothers racing.

The pub itself has a long and chequered history so Mark and Hayley have accepted the challenge of saving it from permanent change of use to retain the history and keep the building for future generations. The pub is now taking a traditional menu and hours approach and already gaining favour in the area as the place to get a quality meal for a fair price that won't leave anyone disappointed (it's Hayley mission that she takes deep and personal interest in the dining experience of everyone who visits and she ensures they are well cared for, catered for and they are free to relax and enjoy) their proper pub grub...….

For the Wales Round Ribbon 2024 Your Ride Your Route the Somerset Arms will be open at 8am serving breakfast, bacon rolls etc before you start. Through the day they also have a special menu for those after a quick stop like Pork and stuffing rolls, burgers, hot dogs and more. On display will be a few of Marks race bikes, sidecar outfit etc and for those looking for a longer stop the pub will be operating normally inside from 12 till 11.

Normal days you'll find the Somerset Arms serving food 12 till 8 Monday to Saturday and 12 till 6 on Sunday.
